The new trail is progressing well. The boardwalk through the meadow by the campground is done, and the new bridges over the creeks and drainages are completed. The CCC crew is now working on the “Cutoff” trail that crosses the meadow over to the pool.
To complete the new trail, there will be interpretive signs installed.
The end of May is approaching, Spring is here and summer is just around the corner. The campground is now open and the pool is open six days a week 10am - 7pm, the pool is closed Wednesdays. Now is a great time to hike to the waterfalls with the creeks full of water. There is still snow at Burnside Lake, so hiking up there can be challenging and dangerous over the sloped, snow covered surfaces. Check out our Gallery for photos of Grover.
The Alpine Watershed Group is partnering with California State Parks and California State Parks Foundation to host a workday at Grover Hot Springs State Park on Saturday, April 20, from 8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. We need volunteers to help with invasive weed removal and park maintenance. All ages are welcome—we will have some fun activities for kids! If you would like to learn more, please email Taylor Norton at awg.snap.rm@gmail.com. To sign up, click here then scroll down to the calendar and click on the Grover Hot Springs State Park event on April 20.
There is a new Interpretive trail that is in the works for Grover! It will replace and reroute the old defunct interpretive trail. This new trail will also be constructed to ADA specifications.
The new trail construction started this summer and is being constructed by a California Conservation Corp crew. Construction is expected to be finished either in the Fall of 2019 or 2020.
Portion of the trail will incorporate boardwalk through some sensitive meadow areas, bridge crossings over creeks and other seasonal water drainages, and tail constructed of packed soil over crushed rock. There will also be interpretive panels placed along the trail, and resting and viewing platforms.
Come out to Grover to enjoy a Spring day, help the Park's beautiful resources, and afterwards enjoy a hike to the waterfalls or a soak in the hot pool.
